Cooking Tips
Pork dripping, also known as pork lard, is a versatile cooking fat with a rich flavour. You can use pork dripping in various culinary applications, such as:
Frying: Pork dripping is excellent for frying, especially when making dishes like fried chicken or crispy pork. It imparts a delicious porky flavour and helps achieve a crispy texture.
Baking: Pork dripping can be used in baking, particularly for making savoury pastries like pie crusts or flaky biscuits. Its inclusion enhances the overall taste and texture of baked goods.
Roasting: When roasting meats, you can brush the meat's surface with melted pork dripping before cooking. This adds flavour and helps achieve a deliciously crispy exterior.
Sauces and Gravies: You can use a small amount of pork dripping as a base for flavourful sauces and gravies. It can be a key ingredient in dishes like sausage gravy or pan sauces.
Seasoning Vegetables: Drizzle melted pork dripping over roasted or sautéed vegetables to add a savoury, porky dimension to the flavours. It can elevate the taste of dishes like Brussels sprouts or green beans.
