We could not do it without you, so these awards and nominations are also wins for the community as well as wins for the shop itself.
Winning the award for Excellence in Hospitality and Retail was such a wonderful moment for our team and really reflected the hard work that everyone at Eric Lyons puts in.
We are so proud of our business and especially proud of the comments from the judges, which praised our product innovation, our commitment to our staff, the support that we give to enrich our local community and our devotion to meeting our customer’s needs.
Often dubbed the ‘Rural Oscars’ the Countryside Alliance Awards honour the skills and produce, tradition, enterprise and the people who go the extra mile for their community.
The judges wrote:
“This is a well-established family run business that is very much at the heart of the local community. Recently refurbished, it has come forward with some new initiatives including food to take away, one portion sizes – which is great for the elderly – as well as continuing to provide excellent, locally sourced meats, pies and dairy produce.”
We were lucky enough to be national finalists for Butcher’s Display of the Year and Midlands & East of England Butcher’s Shop of the Year in the 2019 Butcher’s Shop of the Year Awards.
It was a great honour to be nominated, and we all enjoyed hopping on a train down to London to attend the awards ceremony.
The shop underwent a major renovation in 2018/2019, including the installation of our dedicated pie kitchen, a window fridge, and a grab and go counter.
We were delighted to win this award, especially with the focus on it being a community award. We are big supporters of the local community, as we look to provide them with the best produce in the land and every year host a BBQ for the Knowle and Dorridge Lion’s annual fun run.
